Before setting up the association, take a look at the information below regarding the scenario you are looking for. The info below will tell you which groups you need to use when setting up the association.
Choosing Groups
Controlling one or more bulbs (up to 5) with an Inovelli ON / OFF switch (LZW30, LZW30-SN, NZW30, NZW30S)
Group 2: A single press on the up button will turn the bulbs on. A single press on the down button will turn the bulbs off.
Note: You can use the built in scene feature to adjust the bulbs further. For example, a double tap up could set them to 50%. A double tap down could set them to a specific color. A press of the config button could turn them back your favorite level and color temperature.
Controlling one or more bulbs (up to 5) with an Inovelli Dimmer switch (LZW31, LZW31-SN, NZW31, NZW31S)
Group 2: A single press on the up button will turn the bulbs on. A single press on the down button will turn the bulbs off.
Group 4: Holding down the up button will make the bulbs brighter. Holding down the down button will make the bulbs dimmer.
Note: You can use the built in scene feature to adjust the bulbs further. For example, a double tap up could set them to 50%. A double tap down could set them to a specific color. A press of the config button could turn them back your favorite level and color temperature.
Controlling one or more other switches (up to 5) with an Inovelli ON / OFF switch (LZW30, LZW30-SN, NZW30, NZW30S)

Controlling one or more other switches (up to 5) with an Inovelli Dimmer switch (LZW31, LZW31-SN, NZW31, NZW31S)
Group 2: A single press on the up button will turn the switches on. A single press on the down button will turn the switches off.
Group 4: Holding down the up button will make the switches increase their level. Holding down the down button will make the switches decrease their level.
Note: You can use the built in scene feature to adjust the switches further. For example, a double tap up could set them to 50%. A press of the config button could turn them back your favorite level
Controlling one or more other switches or bulbs (up to 5) with an Inovelli 4-in-1 Sensor (LZW60)

For battery powered devices (i.e. the LZW60 4-in-1 sensor), the device must be awake in order to receive commands. I pressed the button on the back of the 4-in-1 and quickly hit the button to send the commands. I'm not sure if Home Assistant uses a queue for sleeping Z-Wave devices.

Parameter 14 must be set to 1 (Yes) in order for the sensor to send the necessary command to the associated devices.
Group 2: The motion sensor will turn on the associated devices when motion is active and turn them off when motion is inactive. (Note: this behavior can be reversed with config parameter 15.)
Setting Up the Association
Now that you know which group(s) you need to setup, let's proceed with the configuration.
Step 1:
Go into the Z-Wave configuration area in the Home Assistant web interface. You do this by clicking on "Configuration" in the side menu, scrolling down to the bottom, and clicking on "Z-Wave".
Step 2:
Click on the "Nodes" text box and choose the device that you want to set the association on. This is sometimes called the "source" device. It will be used to send commands to the other device(s). When controlling bulbs, this is the switch that you want to use to control them. When controlling another switch, this is usually the switch that is not connected to the light fixture.
Step 3:
Next, choose the group you want to configure (use the information at the beginning of this article for reference) by clicking on the "Node group associations" text.
Step 4:
After the group is selected, click on the "Node to control" text box and choose the device you want to control. This is sometimes called the "destination" device. This is usually the bulb you want to control or the switch that is connected to the light fixture.
Step 5:
After the node is selected click on the "ADD TO GROUP" button. If successful the device will show up in the "Other Nodes in this group" that is right above the "ADD TO GROUP" button.
Step 6:
If you need to set up an additional device in this group or you need to setup the next group please proceed to the beginning of this guide.
