How To: Find Your Device Info, Events & Logs | SmartThings

Summary (TLDR) 

Sometimes it's important to share device info and logs with customer service so that we can understand what's going on with your device and/or SmartThings. The device info will tell us how your device is paired to SmartThings and/or what parameters have been changed, whereas your events & logs will tell us how it's performing in SmartThings.

Finding Your Device Information

Your device information shows up in SmartThings IDE (https://account.smartthings.com/) which can tell you all about your device and how it paired/included to the hub. It can also show you what parameters have been changed and ultimately, it will allow us to understand if there are any issues at a high level.
  1. To begin, log into IDE (https://account.smartthings.com/) with the same info as your app
  2. Click on, "My Devices"
  3. Look in the, "Display Name" column and find the device you'd like to get the information for -- click on it
  4. You should be taken to a page like Figure 1.1 -- This is your Device Information -- Please send this to us

Finding Your Events Information

Understanding the events that have happened on your device is important so that you can see if commands were being sent properly and/or registered from the device to the hub and vice versa. This will allow us to further troubleshoot if everything looks ok with your device info.
  1. To begin, log into IDE (https://account.smartthings.com/) with the same info as your app
  2. Click on, "My Devices"
  3. Look in the, "Display Name" column and find the device you'd like to get the information for -- click on it
  4. You should be taken to a page like Figure 1.1
  5. Scroll down and click, "List Events"
  6. You should be taken to a page like Figure 1.2
  7. Click on, "All" and then set the drop down (top right) to 100 -- Please send this to us

Finding Your Log Information

There are times when you'll want to see how your device is performing in realtime and whether or not the hub is receiving commands correctly from the device. This will allow us to further troubleshoot if everything looks ok with your device info and past events.
  1. To begin, log into IDE (https://account.smartthings.com/) with the same info as your app
  2. Click on, "Live Logging"
  3. You should be taken to a page like Figure 1.3 -- This is your Logging Info
  4. Select the device you want to start monitoring
  5. Start troubleshooting by using your device (ie: if you want to see if the hub is receiving scene commands, initiate a scene from the switch and note the time)
  6. Please send these logs to us
